About this scheme
The Market Research Grant supports companies to undertake market research to address knowledge gaps about a market and its trading conditions, designed to be flexible and cover a wide range of eligible research activities. With a rapidly changing global trading environment, it can help companies urgently research the impact of tariffs, supply chains and other trade measures, diversify exports to new markets, increase market penetration where they are already succeeding, or gather insights to narrow down next market opportunities before Market Validation and Market Entry. Eligible activities include researching market potential and barriers to entry, assessing addressable market size, reviewing market regulations and requirements, comparative pricing research, competitor/supplier landscape review, research interviews, trade show attendance, and (for tariff-related research) quantifying tariff impact and assessing supply chain vulnerabilities. It provides 50% of eligible project costs up to a maximum of €70,000 (a €35,000 grant), covering up to four countries/markets per application. This grant was newly launched in 2025 alongside the New Markets Validation Grant, as part of Enterprise Ireland's response to help exporters address US trade tariffs.
