About this scheme

LeanPlus is the mid-tier programme within IDA Ireland's Lean/Digitalisation Business Offer, delivered in partnership with Enterprise Ireland. It supports a medium-scale business process improvement or digitalisation project carried out with a Lean consultant, with IDA support of up to €30,000 towards eligible project costs of up to €60,000. Key outcomes include achieving significant digitalisation or productivity improvement targets, embedding a business improvement/digitalisation culture and Lean techniques with a cohort of trained staff, and establishing a programme for company-wide improvement. Assignments generally take up to 6 months to complete. The programme begins with a diagnostic audit of current practice and performance, plus the relevant IDA Digitalisation Diagnostic where appropriate, with key performance indicators established using tailored tools and methodologies.

Who can apply

• Medium-scale business process improvement or digitalisation project with a Lean consultant, generally taking up to 6 months
• Lean and specialist training fees at a maximum of €900 per day
• Internal company 'Lean project champion(s)' costs of up to 33.3% of the total project cost (€200 per champion per day)
• Client project eligible costs of up to €60,000 in total (with a €20,000 sub-cap for internal Lean champion costs)
• IDA Ireland support of up to €30,000 (with a €10,000 sub-cap for internal champion support)
• Available to all IDA Ireland client companies engaged in manufacturing or services activities, subject to eligibility as determined by IDA Ireland
• Funding from IDA Ireland depends on factors such as company size, stage of development, and existing capability in continuous improvement methods, digitalisation, and sustainability

How to apply

1. 1Contact your IDA Project Executive to discuss the Lean/Digitalisation Business Offer.
2. 2Complete a diagnostic audit of current practice and performance; the relevant IDA Digitalisation Diagnostic is also completed where appropriate for digitalisation-related work.
3. 3Key performance indicators are established, based on a set of tools and methodologies tailored to the client's situation.
4. 4Engage with a Lean consultant to complete the LeanPlus assignment, which generally takes up to 6 months.
5. 5Funding support is determined by IDA Ireland based on factors such as company size, stage of development, and existing capability in continuous improvement methods, digitalisation, and sustainability.
