About this scheme

The Building Management System (BMS) grant supports businesses installing a new BMS or upgrading an existing one. A BMS automatically controls, monitors and adjusts how a building operates, and is often described as one of the most cost-effective tools in an organisation's energy efficiency journey, delivering savings by automating systems such as heating, cooling, lighting and water, while also providing more consistent comfort levels and data to monitor the impact of changes. Systems range from basic controls, such as time-clocking and centralised monitoring, to advanced systems with self-learning software and synchronised control across multiple building systems. Grants of up to €30,000 are available. SEAI recommends using a BMS specialist trained in the specific software for the system, typically starting with the manufacturer or licensed agent who originally installed it. As with other rapid-approval business grants, applicants apply via the SEAI Application Portal and receive an automated Letter of Offer within minutes.

Who can apply

  • Grant supports both new BMS installations and upgrades to an existing BMS
  • Exact grant value is based on the complexity of the planned system, specifically the number of monitoring and control points

  • No documentary upload or review process is required at application stage
