About this scheme
The Building Management System (BMS) Optimisation Grant helps organisations that already have a BMS unlock energy savings that often go unrealised. It funds a specialist to audit the existing system, identify potential savings, uncover existing faults, and highlight future upgrade opportunities; reviewing and adjusting BMS settings can typically save 10-15% on energy costs. Close coordination between the organisation's facilities manager and the BMS specialist is important, since the specialist's recommended adjustments are applied on the day of the audit, so savings can begin immediately. A grant of €2,000 is available towards this audit and optimisation exercise, intended to typically cover the majority of the associated costs. Any upgrades identified during the audit may themselves be eligible for further funding under the BMS measure of the same scheme. As with other rapid-approval business grants, applicants apply via the SEAI Application Portal and receive an automated Letter of Offer within minutes.
Who can apply
- Open to all businesses, the agricultural sector, public sector bodies, community groups and charities
- The building must have an existing BMS that meets the minimum specification of the grant, as set out in the Pre-Application Form
- The organisation's facilities manager (or equivalent) should know the building's use patterns and have permission to make changes to the BMS settings, so the BMS specialist's recommended adjustments can be applied on the day of the audit
- No documentary upload or review process is required at application stage
- Any resulting BMS upgrades identified by the audit may be eligible for separate funding under the BMS measure of the same scheme
