About this scheme
SEAI's EV Fleet Assessment support helps organisations that want to electrify their vehicle fleet but aren't sure where to start, funding up to €8,000 towards an independent assessment, with the exact amount depending on fleet size. It funds an independent assessor, drawn from an SEAI-appointed panel, to examine your current fleet, mileage and fuel consumption, and recommend which routes or vehicles are suitable for electrification, along with a charging plan and the infrastructure required. The assessor carries out a site visit, reviews vehicle and fuel data, and compiles two reports (in Excel and Word) setting out a pathway to fleet electrification. This is aimed at organisations planning a genuine move toward electric vehicles rather than a general fleet review, and is intended to cover the full cost of the assessment itself. The full process, from site visit to report submission, is typically completed within two months. It is operated under the EU De Minimis Regulation for state aid purposes.
Who can apply
- Open to large industries, SMEs, and semi-state bodies looking to electrify their fleet and decarbonise transport
- This support is not open to public sector bodies
- Applicant must have a minimum of 5 company vehicles
- Support amount: up to €4,000 for fleets of 5-50 vehicles; up to €8,000 for fleets of 51+ vehicles
- Support is operated under the De Minimis Regulation; combined De Minimis aid received by the applicant over the last 3 years must not exceed the €300,000 ceiling
- A completed De Minimis declaration must be submitted to SEAI before an assessor can be assigned
- The support is envisaged to cover the cost of the assessment; any additional costs exceeding the support amount must be agreed in advance between the business and the assessor, with SEAI notified by both parties
How to apply
- Apply online via SEAI's application form to request an EV Fleet Assessment.
- Submit a completed De Minimis declaration to SEAI before an assessor can be assigned.
- SEAI appoints an assessor from its panel of appointed EV fleet assessors to the business.
- The assessor carries out a site visit (the business must facilitate this; duration depends on fleet size) and meets with the appropriate people who have access to the required data, such as fleet or facilities managers.
- The assessor reviews all vehicles in the fleet, using data such as telematics data, vehicle details, odometer readings and fuel spend where available.
- The assessor compiles two reports (in Excel and Word) setting out a pathway to electrification and a suggested charging plan, and submits these to SEAI; the site visit, fleet review and report submission should all be completed within two months of an assessor being appointed.
