About this scheme
The Heat Pump Grant for Business is a fast-approval grant to help businesses decarbonise their heating system by replacing an existing fossil fuel boiler with a heat pump. Heat pumps can serve heating, hot water, or combined heating/cooling needs, and applicants can choose from air, water, or refrigerant-based technologies; depending on the technology selected, up to two separate applications may be made, letting businesses phase their transition and soften capital costs. The grant covers up to 30% of costs, to a maximum of €100,000, with the exact value depending on building type, size, and technical selections; it also covers upgrades to the building's heat distribution system (pipework, radiators) needed to suit the new heat pump. SEAI recommends engaging a chartered building services engineer to assess the building, and separate funding of up to 50% towards this assessment is available under the Technical Assistance measure of the Building Energy Upgrades Scheme.
