About this scheme
The ZEHDV Purchase Grant Scheme is funded by the Department of Transport and administered by Transport Infrastructure Ireland, with Pierse Fitzgibbon Solicitors LLP acting as Scheme Operator handling all communications. It supports companies buying zero-emission heavy duty vehicles (Battery Electric, Fuel Cell Electric, or low-emission Plug-In Hybrid Electric) instead of diesel equivalents, across vehicle categories from light trucks (N2) to double-deck coaches and buses (M3). The grant amount is calculated as a percentage of the 'price differential' - the gap between the ZEHDV purchase price (ex VAT, ex discounts) and a fixed baseline diesel price set out in the Scheme's reference table for each vehicle category/weight range, with the percentage depending on the applicant's company size. Total maximum aid per undertaking, including affiliates, is capped at €500,000 per budgetary year. Applications run annually from 1 November to 31 October the following year. Vehicles already ordered, purchased or registered before application are ineligible. Applicants apply via an Application Form and, once approved, claim funds via a separate Drawdown Form with supporting documentation.
